Longer bio

Colleen Sehy is a writer, speaker, and lifelong Anglophile whose work celebrates the enduring presence of British and Irish history and culture in North America. From Shakespeare festivals in the Midwest to Scottish castles tucked away in unexpected corners of the U.S., she has spent more than three decades seeking out and documenting the places where the spirit of the British Isles thrives on this side of the Atlantic.

Colleen’s fascination with England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, and Shakespeare began in childhood, sparked by classic British children’s books and a televised drama about the Tudors. That early interest evolved into a lifelong passion, leading to numerous visits to Great Britain and Ireland, as well as extensive travels across the United States and Canada in search of historical connections, cultural traditions, and surprising Anglo-American stories. Her formal education includes degrees in arts management, organizational behavior, and business administration, and she brings a unique blend of scholarly insight, personal curiosity, and storytelling to her work.

Finding Shakespeare in America is the first in Colleen’s series of guidebooks designed to help readers experience the charm and richness of the British Isles—without leaving the United States. Upcoming titles in the series include Finding Scotland in America, Finding Ireland in America, and Finding England in America. Each highlights the places, people, and events that bring British and Irish heritage to life across the country.

Whether she’s giving a talk, writing her next book, or enjoying a proper cream tea, Colleen’s mission remains the same: to help readers and travelers connect with their inner Brit, no passport required.
